Throughout 2018 the CLA is running a photo competition as part of The Countryside Matters campaign, offering fantastic prizes including £1,000 for the overall winner.

Over the next 12 months we are asking you to capture on camera the rich diversity of our rural communities, our wildlife and the iconic features that make up our wonderful landscapes in England and Wales.

CLA takes Countryside Matters message to heart of Westminster

MPs and Peers from across the parties turned out to show their support for continued investment in the countryside through Brexit and beyond at an event in Parliament organised by the CLA.

The event highlighted how after the UK ends its participation in the Common Agricultural Policy, a new framework for investing in the countryside can be delivered that better meets the needs of rural Britain. Among those lending their support were Defra Minister Lord Gardiner, Shadow Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Sue Hayman  and former Environment Secretary Owen Paterson

Michael Gove pledges his support for The Countryside Matters

Michael Gove, Secretary of State for the Environment, showed his support for our campaign at this year's Yorkshire Show. 

He said that he would stand up for the countryside by "Fighting for those who protect our beautiful environment!"


Tim Farron endorses The Countryside Matters campaign

Tim Farron, former leader of the Liberal Democrats, endorsed The Countryside Matters campaign.
